Omari Garrett

Meet Omari Garrett, a Certified Personal Trainer and USATF Level 1 certified coach with over 17 years of coaching experience in track and field, basketball, and cross-country. Omari specializes in bio-motor skills development, focusing on speed, power, strength, agility, and coordination/balance—core skills he believes are essential for breakthrough performances. Through his hands-on experience as both an athlete and coach, Omari discovered that these foundational skills are critical for achieving success and unlocking athletes’ full potential. His coaching philosophy has led to the creation of All-Americans, state finalists, and national qualifiers, emphasizing the long-term benefits of bio-motor skill mastery.

In 2016, Omari was honored as Coach of the Year in Track & Field in the South Suburban Conference in Illinois after leading TF North High School to its first-ever Girls Track & Field Conference Championship. Building on this success, Omari served as Athletic Director at TF North for five years, strengthening the school’s sports culture, making history with strategic hiring decisions, and positively shaping the athletic department and its engagement with the local community.

After relocating to Arizona in 2021, Omari dedicated himself to refining his daughters’ athletic skills and supporting their pursuits. His eldest daughter, Rebekah-Jhade Garrett, is a record-breaking track and field athlete excelling in hurdles and sprints at North Canyon High School. His middle daughter is a blossoming volleyball player, and his youngest daughter is a nationally qualifying sprinter and championship-winning soccer player with the Surf Soccer Club. Inspired by their success, Omari has continued to expand his expertise, balancing his roles as a father, trainer, and mentor.

In 2023, Omari joined the Elite Performance Athletics training group as a coach. By 2024, he became the Co-Founder of Elite Performance Athletics Track Club (Arizona), helping the group transition into an official club. That same year, he joined the coaching staff at Desert Edge High School as their long jump coach.

To further his mission, Omari co-founded Starseed Athletics in 2023, creating a dedicated space to train and empower student-athletes alongside his daughter, Rebekah-Jhade. At Starseed Athletics, Omari continues to focus on bio-motor skill development, helping athletes unlock their potential and shine beyond perceived limits. He also continues one-on-one athletic training with Rebekah-Jhade as she grows into an elite athlete.

Omari’s commitment to excellence and passion for athletic development define his legacy as a coach, trainer, mentor, and father, inspiring athletes of all levels to achieve greatness.

Rebekah-Jhade “Star” Garrett

Meet Rebekah-Jhade “Star” Garrett, a rising star in track and field whose athletic journey began at a very young age. From the time she was a toddler, Rebekah-Jhade was exposed to track and field through her father, Omari, who was in the process of becoming an award-winning high school track coach in Illinois. She often attended his practices and meets, mimicking the skills of the athletes, especially one standout jumper nicknamed “Rabbit.” Watching Rabbit sparked Rebekah-Jhade’s passion for jumping, a skill that would later become a key part of her athletic career. Recognizing her natural talent, her father enrolled her in a private track team, setting her on the path to greatness.

At age 7, Rebekah-Jhade began running track with the Warriors Track Club in Illinois, gaining valuable experience and accolades. By 10, she joined the Angels Basketball Club, playing center because of her natural jumping ability, honed through her track experience. Though she also dabbled in volleyball during her youth, it was always the jumping and serving that caught her attention more than the sport itself.

By age 12, Rebekah-Jhade made the decision to fully dedicate herself to track and field, focusing on hurdles and sprints, with hurdles quickly becoming her passion. At 13, after moving to Arizona, she joined Nx Level Track Club. In her first season, she suffered an ankle injury that shortened her season, but by the following year, she was determined to make a strong comeback, building her resiliency. During her comeback season, she placed 3rd in the 100m hurdles at the USATF National Junior Olympics, a feat she repeated the next year.

As a freshman at Canyon View High School, she set multiple school and meet records. After transferring to North Canyon High School, she thrived in an environment filled with talented athletes that further pushed her limits. At North Canyon, Rebekah-Jhade continued to break records, including state and meet records in her specialty events.

During her off season from high school, Rebekah-Jhade competes with Elite Performance Athletics Track Club in West Valley, Arizona. She is also excited to be the Co-Founder of Starseed Athletics, where she will assist her father, Omari, in training up-and-coming athletes. In addition to her role as a trainer, Rebekah-Jhade will bring a holistic approach to the company, connecting with athletes and understanding their struggles in today’s fast-evolving world in only a way an athletic peer can.

Some of her notable accomplishments include:

  • 4x USATF National Qualifier (Long Jump, Pentathlon, and 100m Hurdles)
  • 2x USATF All-American
  • 2x USATF Junior Olympic Bronze Medalist in 100m Hurdles (2022 & 2023)
  • 2024 AIA State Champion in 100m Hurdles and 4×1 Relay
  • AIA Sophomore State 100m Hurdle Record Holder (2024): 13.44
  • 2024 Gold Medalist in 100m Hurdles at the Great Southwest Classic: 13.28 (2.7)
  • 2024 Silver Medalist in 100m Hurdles at the Brooks PR Invitational: 13.41 (1.0)

When Rebekah-Jhade isn’t training or competing, she enjoys unwinding with reality TV, horror movies, and making caramel apples. She loves spending time with animals, especially her Golden Doodle, Bow. Passionate about beauty and skincare, she creates content around beauty products, trying food and snacks, and creating shopping and funny content.

Rebekah-Jhade aspires to become an esthetician and beauty entrepreneur, and she’s determined to blend these passions with her athletic career, proving that you can pursue multiple dreams without sacrificing excellence in any of them.
